PINE HONEY is a rare and special honey produced by bees not from flower pollen, but by using the secretion of an intermediary insect that lives on the trunk of some pine tree species native to the Mediterranean climate. It is found only in Türkiye and Greece in the world.
In order to produce pine honey, this insect, also called the pine cotton bug or the pine cotton bug because it is millimetric in size, popularly called the honeysuckle bug (or honeysuckle bug), is needed.
This insect lives only in red pine, larch and Aleppo pine.
